I am not a Rescue Center! That's what I just told the man at the door with 11 piggies in a large hutch. At least he had the decency to bring a sack of food. He had heard I took unwanted piggies in. I dont but last month I did take four as a favour. They had been little breeding machines so I gave them their retirement home, and I'm sure 2 0f them are pregnant. Oh yes and earlier in the year I took 3 because the kid who had them was scared, and one of those sneaked out a litter no one knew about. And now these. There were 2 adult boars and a juvenile squashed in with sows and litters and he not sure who gave birth to the babies born yesterday. I accepted them on the understanding that most will be re-homed where possible. I love all piggies but I want an environment for mine to be my family, my babies, my kin and worry if there are too many will detract from the quality of care and the time I want to give. So first thing in morning I need new water bottles, his are a bit grubby, and a big padlock for my front gate lol

Oh what a dilemma! You know that you've done the right thing though - but my goodness, you've got your hands full. Well done you Word is obviously getting round about your good nature regarding piggies. Yes, I think you do need an enormous padlock Good luck!

Well done you for taking them all in! I think anyone on the forum would have done the same. I bought a second hand rat cage of a lady near me and we were talking and it transpired that people heard she took in piggies too...she now has 35 in her shed!
I'm trying to figure out how far newcastle is from wales...we might be able to offer a couple of sows a home if you cant rehome them locally

How are you feeling today about it all? You said the man brought the 11 piggies in a large hutch, but how are you managing to keep the sows away from the boars in the meantime? And did you get their water bottles sorted? One things for sure, Lou Lou must think it's Christmas and her birthday rolled into one Can't wait to see photos of them all

To be quite honest I have felt quite upset today. Not because of the piggies but the situation. I have housed them best I can due to the fact that there are 2 litters of 2 and I'm not sure who is mum to or ages of babies for weaning and for sure the females will be pregnant again. 2 of the long hairs had to be bathed just so as I could clear poo away to define their sex. I dont care what he claimed I am convinced this is some one who has been intentionally breeding and probably discovered that it is not profitable. But I am so scared that I will now be more stretched timewise and unable to give my piggies the quality time that I want to supply. And I have got to get the re-homing right but will worry about that when they settled.

I've just been chatting to Pigpog about your situation on the phone. Sadly this sort of thing crops up all too often. I wish I lived nearer so I could be of some practical help to you, but be assured we are all here to offer advice and give you moral support. You have done the kindest thing possible for these piggies at this point. It will sort itself out in the fullness of time. No doubt Pigpog and Doris/Bob will give you some advice as to their breeds and ages etc. Well done you

Cripes. Um, he just turned up on your doorstep? He could at least have called or something to make sure he was correct when he thought you took in animals. I wish I could physically help out but I'm down in Jersey. I'll be here though to back you up and give you encouragement. Pig #1 = Peruvian, I think? I'm not sure on the colour, but could be a golden/white bi-colour. And the eyes look ruby. Pig #2 = Looks like an Abyssinian or Abyssinian x. Again it looks like a golden/white bi-colour. Pig #3 and Pig #4 = Probably Abyssinian or Abyssinian x if they belong to the one above. Golden/white bi-colour again and the other one looks like a black/golden/white tri-colour. Pig #5 = Golden/white bi-colour smooth hair, probably a smooth Abyssinian x if related to Pig #2. Doris will have a better idea of what they are as she's a judge and really knows her stuff. Keep the pics coming when you can and we'll do what we can to help.

To be quite honest I have felt quite upset today.... I'm not surprised. You're doing really well though, all the right things. We're very proud of you here. Don't worry about giving them cuddle time at the moment. Concentrate on cleaning them up, getting them settled and then sorting new homes for them. You need to get over the shock before you can take it all in - we're all here for you so feel free to rant as much as you like and get it off your chest. Guineapoo wants to take a couple of the sows, so that's a positive thing. Keep your chin up, you're doing just fine.

Also, if you want you can take some pics of their bits and we'll see if we can tell you which are boars and which are sows.

You're a great person to do that, and I just feel that it's lucky for the piggies that this man had heard of you.
On the good side, at least he did give them to someone and not just abandon them somewhere. I really hope you get them new homes soon, and anything they have will be heaps better than what they seem to have had to date.

You are a wonderful person, and the piggies are lucky to have found you. I wish I could be a bit more help, but we're all with you in spirit.
