Hi, bit of a dumb question, but Angel our sheltie got well and truly 'barbered' (had her coat eaten) by Zippo when they were living together pre-babies (we're thinking of re naming him Sweeney Todd the Demon Barber of South Wales) We then added to the hair loss by taking the hair off her bottom before she littered down, as we didn't want it to get in the way. Does anyone know roughly how long it takes for the hair to grow back (it does grow back, right?) as she's really missing her flowing locks - she says she's a 'lady' and doesn't like people being able to see her feet

Yes, it will grow back.
We rescued a texel boar, he was totally bald when our friend resuced him. It took a while but he had a full body of hair back within about 3 months.
If you show you won't be able to show her as a sheltie you will only be able to show her in pets.

Thanks, thats a relief! poor thing looks a bit pathetic without her hair. We are thinking of showing (only as pets though so thats ok) if we can find any shows in our area that is...

I know what you mean, they look a bit odd without fur (have you seen the pictures of Myrtle in the Finacard thread?) Here is Bod when he first came and then a picture of him when his fur grew back With enough fur to show Looking a more like a longhaired!! No mistaking hes a longhaired now!

Bod is a stunner! do you wrap his coat to keep it so gorgeous? We don't wrap him, as due to him not having hair when we first got him, its not really showable, so we do trim it now and again for comfort.

That last pic looks like you could pop him on top of your head as a wig! His coat looks so thick and gorgeous.
Does he complain about being groomed? Angel always squeaks - not 'i'm in pain' squeaks but like she's saying 'ooh, how dare you?!' when she has her bottom brushed, even though we're really gentle.

We've got an old sow like that. She doesn't like having her back touched really and she gets quite grumpy about it.

Bod HATES being groomed. We think it stems from being bald when we first got him - he wishes to hold onto his hair rather than having it combed out!!
Lexie, our sheltie sow doesn't seem to mind. Thistle our merino Boar is worse than Bod and does not have an excuse. Megan is still very young, but shes never too impressed when I do her hair! I have now got the tactic of feeding the teeth end, while grooming the bottom end, but shes a multi tasking female and still manages to kick me with the hind legs while eating her carrott!!

I hear you on that one Doris. Feeding the teeth end doesn't always work because they know what we're up to!

It's coming along very sloooooowly Thanks so much for asking, Angel says thanks too! We're thinking of making her a wig out of Fluffy Ginger Pigs fur, as he's going to be one heck of a long haired by the looks of it. How was your weekend with your family coming to stay? x
