No, I'm right there with you on that one....It's amazing that any kids learn to use their competitive instincts , and I wonder whether the rise in bullying has any relation to the lack of competition and being stretched to achieve things in important parts of school life.
I hate to think how we are going to live in future when the people who run the country have never done anything that might be risky in case they were hurt, or (back to the thread) never learned how to look after an animal in case they didnt......
Now where did I put my escape plan.....

we dont have sports days anymore its a ...... wait for it ....... " non competitive activity day " yep NO winners aggggggghhhhhh It's political correctness gone mad, I tell you! I live for the day this sort of rubbish isn't in fashion any more and we can all go back to normal. It's like the game of conkers. This has been banned by many schools in case a kid gets clonked in the head with one. Well, I got clonked in the head with a conker and I'm still here! It's all just gone completely mad.

I know what you mean, these days we are wrapping children in cotton wool/bubble wrap, and they don't learn to fend for themselves.
We see it alot in Guiding. Some of our girls don't know the most basic of things, because the parents don't allow them to try for themselves.

We could argue that this law is actually cruelty to children !!! As this means that children would be denied the oportunity to have a close bond with their pet and therefore, all the things that come with that ! Having a pet teaches a child to respect living creatures and children show love by giving cuddles !

They certainly should think about that law, it's silly, it's like the law that states that the fire brigade can't use ladders as they have been deemed a hazard I think these laws are made up by people who are really bored, I mean come on, children need to be brought up with animals and that includes learning how to care for them. How are they going to do that when they can't hold them? It's all apart of the learning experience ;D I don't see the problem as long as they are supervised . The bit about not being allowed to have one confuses me a bit, are they saying that they HAVE to be in the same enclosure? Or can they be seperated but have to be near eachother?
