I was wondering if I can ask your advice please. My girls just don't seem at all interested in the hay I bought for them so I bought a small pack of different hay from Pets At Home which is much softer and not at all stalky. They pick at it but really enjoy their Readigrass which I have been offering in a separate bowl.
Last night I mixed the hay with the Readigrass and did a controlled experiment!!! I watched them and they just picked out the Readigrass and didn't really go near the hay and this morning when I came down the hay is left but Readigrass is gone.
Can you feed Readigrass on its own? I know it says you can on the back of the pack, but I was just wondering if any of you do or whether it might be a bit rich on its own.
Many thanks.

I have a feeling that my boys didnt eat very much hay when they first came.... they've certainly had on and off periods. They didnt like it in the hayrack, although now they do eat from there, although they still prefer it on the ground. They also like a big pile to play in! But yes, readigrass is preferred.....I dont think there's a problem them eating mainly that as it really is only grass. My boys prefer fresh grass to just about anything else. But someone who knows what they're talking about will be along in a minute

I'm pleased to report that they're now tucking into the original bale of organic hay I bought from the animal feed store. I had a good sniff of the P@H hay and it didn't smell right and I noticed it was dusty so thought right, you're being too soft here Ali, so just stuck with the first bale and, sure enough, they started eating it - it's much nicer. What I did was to put their timbersticks or whatever it is called into their cage and made a cozy bed of hay which they could eat and I've also got a shoebox, cut out a doorway and filled that with hay too and they're eating much more. I just change it all each morning and they're happy. I am also giving a small bowl of Readigrass just in the mornings and they're picking at it. So all in all piggies 0, Mummy 1 ps - they're also eating the Supa Excel too so perhaps that should be piggies 0, Mummy 2 lol!

Sounds like they're settling in!
My two new piggies have a bag of their usual muesli come with them, and I mixed it with Super Excel on day 2. This morning all the super excel had gone!
They seem to tuck into most things they're given, but they're older and this is their third home in a month so they probably reckon they need to take what's going...Fred & George are MUCH pickier!
I prefer my local hay too. I had a tip from my guinea nurse who gets much longer hay from a different feed store so I might try that if I'm shooping in that direction... I also have an emergency bag of PAH hay in the garage, but maybe I should get it out and use it as bedding for the new boys who were used to hay and also as you say it makes a cosy home these winter nights stuffed in their sticks and boxes.
Readi-grass has a lot more nutrients in it that hay - treat like you would grass.
