George was making strange noises this afternoon (see thread in Piglopedia). He was in the upstairs run and I couldnt see anything wrong with him, he was running around as usual, a bit more than usual really, and I noticed that someone had jumped into the litter tray and upset it as lots of litter had fallen out forward. He was definitely a little agitated when I put him back in his downstairs cage. Later having had him out a couple of times I checked his mouth and it looks like he's bumped himself and broken a bit of his lower left tooth off. The upper two look a bit pointed too, but that could be gnawing on the chube - they usually right themselves again in a week when they do this (Fred in particular does it but I havent seen it like this on George before). I couldn't get a good photo with a flash, so here is one a bit dark but with good contrast: I've held the jaw on either side of the tooth and wiggled it and the jawbone seems ok (upper and lower). I havent actually tried pullling the teeth themselves. He ate some celery leaves and thin stalks, one of which he took with his front teeth, but declined a larger piece that would have needed gnawing. I havent seen him gnawing anything yet. He was an absolute angel when I was checking his teeth and taking the photo. Do you think it will grow out or should I take him to the vet?

It should sort itself, its only a little break, our Rolo broke one of his top teeth twice, and it was quite a bit different in size, we just gave him a block to gnaw on to bring them both down to the same size. Keep an eye on it, if its no better in a couple of days you can either trim the tooth yourself (if you are of course confident doing this) if you are not, then a trip to the vet would be best. If you lived nearer i'd offer to trim it for you

It's amazing! Just 5 days later George has straightened his teeth out beautifully!
