I went to the garden centre yesterday and it broke my heart to see more pink eyed guinea pigs in the sale pens, because I know they've got a much smaller chance of going to a loving home than their dark eyed counterparts. It's so sad that people won't take a pink eyed guinea pig home because, usually younger children, are convinced they're evil. So please, I'm urging everyone here to help me to spread the word that pink eyed guinea pigs are just as lovable and they're not evil or sinister. It's just a lack of pigment in the eye that gives it the pink colour, nothing more.

Its not just children, a lot of adults don't like them either. I personally don't care, we have 9 pink, 2 ruby, then we have 1 blue, 1 with none, rest are dark. When I bought Lupin-Buckmore I was asked if I was absolutely sure I wanted that one as he has pink eyes!!

I love pink eyed whites there is a rescue in lichfield who still have one he has been there for a while all alone Digby was at the Dogs Home because he had pink eyes and light hair it was the best descion I ever made adopting him, he was the friendliest pig I have ever known. At the local p@h they had 2 boars there for ages they got really big then got moved to the adoption corner because no one wanted them Its a sad fact that they are less desirable I wouldnt say no to one or more

F&G are pinkeyed. I was a bit taken aback when I first met them, but I didnt notice it at all after I got them home - it was the first thing one of my friends said though!

how odd. the colour of the eyes has never occurred to me. I never thought about them being evil (some of mine are little monsters though! ) I thought the pink eyes were really pretty! everyones different I guess. I love mine all the same, pink, green, yellow or polka dot.

Our first piggie Harry was pink eyed, didn't really think anything of it at the time, he was the only piggie in the shop, and we asked to see him and fell in love with him, as he was so cute ;D

When people ring me looking for piggies they often have a problem with pink eyes...don't know why. I end up going with the phone to the piggies to check the eye colour, they all look lovely to me! To even it up though there are a some of people that are just crazy for white piggies whatever the eye colour. Amanda

I am starting to think they are evil... Everytime I look at "Pumba's" cage, there he is, in his Igloo, looking at me....

I will hold my hands up and admit I am not a pink eyed white lover. I do own a PEW lakeland called Zorro but I wouldnt go out of my way to buy a PEW. I do own some himalayans and I used to breed Tri-colour with pe and Argentes with PE its just PEW I am not a fan off. Here was some of the breeds I used to keep with PE... This was Connar, he was a White/Lilac Argente This was Glory, she was a Self Lilac And Xander, he was a Tri-colour(golden, lilac and white).... Emma x

I nearly had a pink-eyed lilac...he was paired with a little agouti. It was the agouti I wasnt so keen on - but the lilac developed a skin condition and F&G had just come in, looking for a home..... (and the rest is history!)

i love any guinea pig regardless of the colour eyes. we have zoe a strawberry roan who has red eyes and it is her and adds to her character and we adore her dearly. she is nearly 4.4 years old and we treasure every day with her.
