Only 8 days to go now, not that Zoë and I are counting . I'm trying to prolong the excitement for her by getting a few new bits every couple of days and today it was hay time! We have an animal feed merchant close by (only about 1.5 miles or so) and I popped in. They have lovely organic hay in big bales so I bought a bale for £5 which I thought was very good as the ones in pet shops are tiny and cost £3!!!! This looks lovely and clean, green, soft and as it's organic Iggle Piggly and Upsy Daisy should be very happy! Only problem is I'm going to have to vacuum out the car later (once it's stopped hailing/thundering here )!!! They also do Allen & Page guinea pig food which looks good on the website so once I've had the girls a while I'll start changing them over. Told Z we'll get the cage ready on Tuesday and she almost shot though the roof she was that excited, little sweetheart!

I went to a feed merchant called Cog Mills in Frampton Cotterell - used to buy my horse stuff there. Chew Magna would be a bit far for me to go lol! Just lugged the hay into the garage (hubby will be thrilled ) and swept the van out best as I could. I had to have another sniff of it as it's just sooooo lush!!!!!!!!!!! Time for a cuppa then taking Zoë to get her hair cut - non stop fun here . By the way, what' s Wagg mix? Also, as they won't be out until the spring, should I be thinking about getting something like redi grass for the girls too?

I have my boys on Wagg premium pellets and the Allen & Page muesli. It's variety rather than necessary! The A&P is very nice usually although I did get some great blocks of the 'extruded' stuff the other day hidden in it, but my feedstore is very good if I take things back.... When the boys were away they just had their Wagg with them - first thing they did when they got back in the cage was head for the muesli trough, so it must be ok!!
I get local hay too - much better! But yours sounds extra scrummy

Tip for the future: When you go to buy a bale of hay, take a single duvet cover with you (an old one you don't mind getting dirty) and put the hay bale into the duvet cover, then hey presto, no hayey car, and makes for easier maneuvering and storage

What a great idea Doris - seems so simple now, why didn't I think of that
