I think it would be good for you to chat it over with people who actually run rescues for piggies and if at all possible go and visit one. When I first adopted my lot I wanted to go into rescue and started chatting online with people and even met a lady who runs a rescue but I found really at this time it isn't for me. I am willing to foster piggy's but I am not ready for the cost in time or money especially with 3 children and piggy's of my own. Instead a friend and I set up a rescue forum for people to chat rescue and to find piggy's homes to also point people in the direction of rescues and we have plans in process to fund raise for them this is what I can do right now. But it may be different for you. There are a few people here who can help you with information, tanya and tosca know lots about rescue so hopefully they will be along to help you out

The other thing you mentioned was experience. I havent got much experience and dealing with George's illness made me realise how difficult it can be when a piggy is ill. At one stage I was feeding him every two hours during the day... then four hourly but I didnt include a night one. So you have to consider whether if you rescued say, six piggies that needed medical care, could you cope with that? Would you know what to do or would your vet bills be out of control?
Talking to your vet about it may be a good idea. They might be in need of a foster outlet themselves which might be a good way to get experience?

hi, yes that is true, can be hard to cope with illness, though the foster outlet sounds like a good idea. ;D Thats why i wanted to chat to you guys as anything can sound a good idea, but as my mum always said 'rosy colored glasses is not as good as thinking'. and there is always something someone else can say which makes you think so thank you for your input

Hi Toni I'm just starting out and still learning about rescue. It is very rewarding and heartbreaking too. Fostering is a great opportunity to dip your toe in so to speak and do what your lifestyle allows. Good luck in whatever you decide all here will support you.
