hi Gandolf fur is very thick, high densety, his coat springly but he is soft you cant get it lay flat at all my hubby calls him the giant brillo pad, his tummy hair is a sort of curly, and all his hair is uniform in leanth. Frodo is the same but his hair is not as long hope this helps

hi his fur is one and a half inches long and Frodo fur is a little shorter just over one inch In that case I am 98% sure they are both Swiss.

No special health problems, its a good idea to give them a brush occasionally, but its not like the true longhairs that need brushing daily. You may find that the hair will get longer (I assume they are fairly young?) The Swiss, is relatively new in this country, but they are fairly popular because of the fairly easy to care for coat (as it grows forwards), and the fact (for me) that they are something a bit different. They do have ever changing coats, you will find they do go through "moults" one day your lovely swiss will have fantastic hair, the next day its gone. Rumour, one of our Swiss had a permenant "fluffy butt" I can just imagine them rolling their eyes at you I can post some pictures of ours here for you if it would help?

You can show the Swiss, but as yet there is no breed standard (this is the set standard that judges use when judging pures), so they are judged in the "new and Emerging" section, therefore the best they currently can achieve is best new and emerging. People behind the scenes are working very hard to try and get a Guide Standard which is the next step along the path. This is Rhydian, demonstrating very well when swiss go flat on the shoulders. Rhydian again, but showing his pretty face! Rumour showing the thin and whispy phase Mikyla-Margaret demonstrating the "fluffy butt" and thin on the shoulders phase. And Finally, Magic, a baby swiss (he is satinised, but this gives you an idea as to how they are when they are really little)

yes i see what you mean, and Gandolf has the flat shoulder stage Frodo just always seems fluff but that maybe because he is only 8mths, where Gandolf is 18mths, all the picures are lovely but mikyal-margaret looks huge and i thought Gandolf was big ;D they seem by the pic that they are bigger than some of the other breeds

Mikyla-Margaret only looks big in that photo because shes stretched out, but yes, the Swiss are generally bigger than other piggies Frodo is on the young side, but he may at some point soon go through the thin on the shoulders phase, on the other hand he might not, thats the funny thing about the swiss, there is no predicting who will, and who won't.
