If he's lost a lot of weight then he should see the vet (which you probably know already! ). Is he eating now? It could be down to stress I guess, perhaps being moved into a new home with a new pig upsets him and puts him off his dinner? If he's still not eating properly it might be as well to give him some probiotic to settle his tummy a bit and see if that works.

It sounds like you know what you're doing and know much more than me anyway - but when you checked his teeth did you check back teeth as well?
My Georgie had his back teeth growing inward so they werent being ground down at the centre - it made his tongue ulcered so of course he found eating difficult. He was trying to eat, but not managing properly and it didnt notice until the weight loss had really started....so just another thing to check!

I think it is just one more thing to check....
Yes they have back teeth like horses do - further back in the jaw - they're quite tricky to look at. Best leave it to an expert!
If you dont solve the problem of why he is losing weight, then I know you'll go to the vet anyway.

I'd also treat for mites, a bit of a long shot, but sometimes weight loss can be an after affect, and as he is a longhaired you may not have noticed the hairloss yet.
Failing this a trip to the vet would be in order.

Oh Sam I'm so sorry. I've never heard of such a thing personally, but it doesn't sound good whatever it was. I have left a message with one of my vets to call me back because I'm curious to hear what he thinks it might have been. I'll let you know what he says.
