hi all Well last nite i checked all the pigs and locked up for bed time. princess was eating and i gently rested my hand on her and could feel movement so we were happy and locked up. this morning i went to feed breakfast and found poor princess with 3 babies all of which still born all babies appear perfectly formed and not in the sacs and cleaned i guess its just one of lifes mysteries. feel very sad today as been so excited about seeing her babies. and sad for princess as she must be feeling it too. Princess will be transfered into the sow pen as a retired piggy daisy on the other hand as cheered me up her 3 little bubbas are beautiful !! sorry this is not happy news xxx

Did you look at the bodies an d make sure they weren't malfunctioned in any way? It could just be (not to be rude) the mother's fault for not properly tending. Was her milk production okay? If not, the babies could have died that way. And if she does have milk production, is it best to have her in with other pups?
Sorry for your loss, Lessie

Aww Sarah I'm so sorry. Letting Princess help with other bubs will help her in my humble opinion. It is what would happen naturally. Thinking of you x

I'm so sorry Sarah, I only just found this thread. Yes, it looks like one of life's mysteries, and so terribly sad too. I'm really, really sorry.

Sorry for your loss, Lessie In Guinea pigs the milk let down does not happen right away, usually within 6 or so hours mother will have milk. There is no reason not to leave her in with other pups - it means that both mums will share the suckling. We have a boar here that effectively had two mummies as the breeder had two sows together litter on the same day. One was his birth mother, and the other was his surrogate. Both mothers suckled all the babies (they had five each) and would share and share about. Pig Mad Sarah - so sorry for your loss
