we are going to get them in 3 weeks. We have ordered a hutch and a run. We are going to put the run in the hutch cause i like the idea of letting my piggies run around while im at school!

I bet you cant wait.
Coming from someone who is a little conserned on the guinea pigs welfare, are the babies currently living outside? As this time of year I personally would advice people to be bringing them inside or into a shed, or getting a hutch hugger to keep them warm and snug.
Bringing little ones from a nice warm house/shed to outside espcially on a night could be a stressful time for them.

I agree with Emma, the babies really should have a nice warm hutch to go to if you're planning on keeping them outdoors. It's going to be a culture shock for them to go from warm house to hutch in the garden. I definately agree that you need something to insulate the hutch, such as a hutch cover that you can buy from pet shops, or even some bubble wrap around the back, top and sides (of course leaving the front uncovered for light and air). I think also some fleece or Vetbed in the hutch with extra hay will help to keep them warm. Also, place the hutch against a wall in a secluded part of your garden for extra protection against the weather. Since they've only just been born and it's already practically October, I think you should seriously consider bringing them in for the winter. Anytime from spring onwards is a good time to introduce them to outdoor living, but this time of year really isn't good, especially for babies as Emma pointed out. When the weather gets so cold that we have a frost and the air is bitterly cold, most people I know bring their guinea pigs indoors for a few weeks. I would recommend this as guinea pigs don't do very well outdoors in the worst weather we have over the winter, and I'm sure you wouldn't want to imagine them freezing their little socks off.

I think they were kept outside, in fact, yes they were. We would defo get a hutch cover or make one and would put loads of warm bedding in for them to keep them cosy. They will have each other to snuggle up to aswell . I will also try the sock thing too.

ah, i dunno how to add photos , have seen the thred on how to but the photo's dont have an address. You will need to upload the photos to somewhere like photobucket first (its free to have an account) then you post the IMG links in your post. There is a user guide about, but if you are still struggling, drop me a PM and I will help you
